For the 75th anniversary of the Wiesław Białowąs AGH "Krakus" Song and Dance Ensemble, the ensemble prepared a gala concert entitled "Mirage. The illusion of form and sound", which took place on November 15, 2024 at the Nowa Huta Cultural Center in Krakow.
The performance, which consisted of folk suites and elements of other genres, such as bossa nova, minuet and tango, gathered over 200 people on stage: dancers, a band and choristers. The creators of the performance tried to show folk as a value that is constantly alive, also in modern culture, presenting in diverse, dynamic and multi-coloured choreography, a combination of dance, singing, music and beautiful, meticulously recreated, folk costumes. The audience of several hundred people - invited guests, former members of the band and delegations from all over Poland - filled the NHC auditorium tightly, enthusiastically applauding the artists.
The 75 years of the history of the AGH University ensemble are over 5,000 concerts and 200 artistic tours presented on various stages and on various occasions, in dozens of countries around the world. In 2023, "Krakus", as one of five ensembles in Poland, danced during the closing ceremony of the European Games - Małopolska 2023.
Wiesław Nowak’s NOVMAR company has been financially supporting the AGH “Krakus” music and dance ensemble for many years, and the president of the NOVMAR board was one of the honorary guests at the gala concert on the occasion of the ensemble’s 75th anniversary, among the AGH university authorities, with His Magnificence the Rector, Jerzy Lis.
